Why Won’t Central Air Conditioner Turn On?
1) Air Filter. The first thing everyone should do before anything else when the air conditioner is not on, is check the air filter. There are quite a few models that are designed to shut down when the air filters are over encumbered and will not turn on until the filter is breathable again. This feature is a safety and efficiency precaution primarily designed to prevent the damage clogged filters contribute to.
2) Power Supply. Inspect the breaker box if in the event the air conditioning system does not seem to be receiving power. 4) Thermostat. Ensure the thermostat is operating correctly. The power should be set on and set to cool. An electromechanical thermostat requires a good cleaning every so often. Make certain the batteries are fresh if the thermostat appears disabled. If the thermostat won’t power on, make sure it is not the circuit breaker or power supply. A professional may be needed if the home is powered but thermostat is not functioning.
Transformer, Contactor, or Relay is Faulty. To power on the air conditioner or heat pump, the transformer and contactor are electric motor controls that are used. You will need to contact a licensed professional for replacement in the event these elements are not functioning.
