Prepare Your Central Air Conditioner for Summer Heat with an AC Tune Up in Canyon Gate, NV

As longtime Las Vegas Valley residents know, the extreme heat that Las Vegas is known for will soon replace this cool winter weather. For many of you, that may mean more trips to the pool, splash pads at local parks, picnics at Floyd Lamb State Park at Tule Springs and bike rides at the Red Rock Loop. But for your air conditioner it means more work and more stress. And if your air conditioner is not ready and prepared, you could be left waiting for an air conditioning repair company in a home or office that feels more like a sauna! Air Supply Heating and Air Conditioning encourages you to take advantage of the cool weather before the summer heat arrives and get these tasks done to help prepare your air conditioner for the approaching warm weather.

Replace or Clean Your Dirty Air Filter

In the Las Vegas desert, we live in a dry and dusty climate, which means air filters don’t last long here. A dirty air filter can actually suffocate your air conditioning system and cause it to work harder than it needs to. In addition to the dangerous health implications to people that live and work in your building, this can lead to higher energy bills, more repairs and a shortened lifespan of your air conditioner. A dirty filter only takes a few minutes to change. So, before the stifling summer heat comes along be sure to change your air conditioning filter.

Clear the Area Around Your Air Conditioner

If your home or business’ air conditioner is outside of your premises and on the ground, you should make sure it has adequate room to breathe. Air Supply Heating and Air Conditioning usually recommends about a three foot area around the air conditioner that is clear of debris, shrubs, leaves and weeds etc. This allows for adequate airflow to your air conditioner and helps keep your air conditioning coils cleaner.

Check the AC Drain Line

As part of the cooling process, your air conditioner also removes humidity from the air. This humidity is removed from your home or business via a drain line (also known as a condensate drain line.) A clogged condensate drain line can cause a lot of damage to your A/C System. Make sure your air conditioners drain line is clog free before turning it on this summer. This check can be performed during a professional A/C tune-up by Air Supply Heating and Air Conditioning which leads to our last point.

Get an A/C Preventive Maintenance Tune-up

Like your car, your air conditioner requires routine maintenance to continue to run safely and efficiently. Annual A/C tune-ups are recommended by the U.S Department of Energy, ENERGY STAR, air conditioner manufacturers and local utility company, Nevada Power. The best time to have a tune-up performed is now, before the summer heat pushes your air conditioner into overdrive and before you have to wait when local air conditioning companies get really busy. It is important to note that Air Supply Heating and Air Conditioning does offer a maintenance agreement that gives priority service and moves you to the front of the line! We recommend you have your air conditioner tuned up at least twice a year.
